qim.mosh denotes a plant appearing among thorns and thistles in scenes of desolation.

The two attested uses place qim.mosh among unwanted growth: it is said to take possession in Hosea 9:6 and to grow with thorn and thistle around ruined fortifications in Isaiah 34:13.

   In Hosea 9:6, the masculine singular absolute form occurs in the clause that the APB renders “nettle shall possess them,” followed by thistle in their tents. In Isaiah 34:13, the same form occurs among thorn and thistle as the APB renders vegetation growing in citadels and fortifications.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the term as “nettle” in both verses. In Hosea 9:6 it is part of what shall possess, while in Isaiah 34:13 it appears among growth in ruined places.
