al denotes what is high or above, including an address to the Most High.

The attested noun denotes elevation or what is above in clauses about being raised, returning upward, and calling from above; it also occurs as the one called “the Most High.”

   In 2 Samuel 23:1, the noun occurs in the statement about a great man who was “raised up on high.” In Hosea 7:16 the APB renders the relevant direction “upward,” while Psalm 50:4 describes a call to the heavens “from above.”
