The attested use describes enclosing or setting a boundary: the sea is shut within doors in Job 38:8, while a great man is depicted as hedged about in Job 3:23.

   Both occurrences use the same Hiphil sequential imperfect form. In Job 38:8 the clause concerns the sea and doors; the APB renders it, "and shut up the sea with doors." In Job 3:23 the clause concerns a great man whose way is hidden; the APB renders him as one "whom God has hedged about."
