cha.taph describes an action of taking something away, as in the unanswerable act portrayed in Job 9:12.

The sole attested use depicts a forceful taking away that no one can reverse or question in Job 9:12.

   The Qal imperfect third masculine singular form occurs in the clause about one who acts and cannot be turned back or challenged. In Job 9:12 the APB renders the clause, “Look, he snatches away; who can turn him back?”
