chat.ta.ah denotes wrongdoing presented in contexts of pardon and of woe over those who persist in it.

The attested use presents wrongdoing both as something named among offenses that may be lifted and as a burden people draw after themselves.

1. Wrongdoing named as offense or burden · dominant

   In Exodus 34:7, the singular absolute noun occurs in the clause about lifting iniquity, transgression, and this offense; the APB renders the sequence "lifting iniquity and transgression and sin." In Isaiah 5:18, the same form occurs in the woe against those who draw iniquity with falsehood and this offense as with a cart rope; the APB renders "sin as with a cart rope."

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across both verses, the APB includes "sin" in the relevant clauses, but it is a whole-verse translation to the Hebrew form.
