Ebenezer
e.ven ha.e.zer is a proper name used for a stone and for the place identified by that stone in Samuel’s narrative.
The proper-name forms identify a stone in 1 Samuel 4:1 and the place from which the ark was taken in 1 Samuel 5:1; in 1 Samuel 7:12, Samuel gives that name to a stone he sets between Mizpah and Shen.

All three forms are tagged Noun · Proper. In 1 Samuel 4:1 the APB renders Israel as encamping beside “the stone Ebenezer,” and in 1 Samuel 5:1 it renders the ark’s movement “from Ebenezer to Ashdod.” In 1 Samuel 7:12, Samuel sets up one stone and calls it “Ebenezer.”
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the name as “Ebenezer” in each cited verse, once with “the stone” and once as the point from which the ark is brought. It does not by itself settle the term’s precise contribution in every clause.
