Charran is the place where Abraham settled after Mesopotamia and before God moved him onward.

The attested use identifies a place in Abraham's journey: he was there after Mesopotamia, and from there God moved him into the land where his hearers lived.

   In Acts 7:2, the dative singular form occurs in the statement that Abraham was in Mesopotamia before he settled there. In Acts 7:4, the same form occurs after his departure from the land of the Chaldeans, and the APB renders the clause "settled in Haran" before describing God moving him from there.
