Phanerosis is the making evident of the Spirit’s gift or of truth in an open presentation.

The two verses show a single use: the making evident of what is given by the Spirit or set forth as truth. In 1 Corinthians 12:7 it is given to each in connection with the Spirit, while 2 Corinthians 4:2 places it in an open presentation of the truth.

   In 1 Corinthians 12:7, the nominative singular form names what is given to each in connection with the Spirit; the APB renders the clause "the manifestation of the Spirit for what is profitable." In 2 Corinthians 4:2, the dative singular form occurs with the open presentation of truth after rejecting hidden and deceptive conduct; the APB renders "by the open presentation of the truth."

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the term’s contexts as "the manifestation of the Spirit" in 1 Corinthians 12:7 and "the open presentation of the truth" in 2 Corinthians 4:2. These phrases indicate the clauses’ presentation rather than fixed English equivalents.
