Senses in use

  1. Place named in a burial and purchase account · dominant

In Acts 7:16, the two accusative singular feminine forms occur in the account of people being brought to this place and of a tomb purchased from the sons of Hamor there. The APB renders the verse, “They were brought to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had purchased for a sum of silver from the sons of Hamor at Shechem.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: In Acts 7:16, the APB presents the name twice as “Shechem,” once as the destination and once in the purchase description.
