Seleukeia is the place to which those sent by the Holy Spirit went down before sailing to Cyprus.

The attested use names the destination reached before the travelers sailed to Cyprus in Acts 13:4.

Senses in use

  1. A destination before sailing to Cyprus · dominant

In Acts 13:4, the accusative singular feminine form occurs after the movement described as going down; the APB renders the verse, “went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: In Acts 13:4, the APB presents the name in the travel clause as “went down to Seleucia.” The verse is read as a whole, but the clause identifies it as the point from which the voyage to Cyprus proceeded.
