Proskairos describes people, visible things, or pleasures as short-lived rather than enduring.

The attested use describes what lasts only briefly: people without firmness under pressure, visible things set against what is eternal, and pleasures associated with sin.

1. Short-lived or non-enduring · dominant

   In Matthew 13:21 and Mark 4:17, the nominative masculine forms describe those who lack root and fall away when pressure or persecution comes. In 2 Corinthians 4:18, the nominative neuter plural form characterizes visible things in contrast with eternal things; in Hebrews 11:25, the accusative feminine singular form qualifies pleasures that Moses declines. The APB renders the respective clauses with “temporary,” “temporal,” and “fleeting.”
