Proorizo denotes God’s prior determination of people, their appointed outcome, events, and wisdom within his purpose.

The attested use consistently concerns God’s prior determination within his purpose: of wisdom before the ages, an event to occur, people for adoption and conformity to the Son’s image, and those who are subsequently called, justified, and glorified.

1. God’s prior determination within his purpose · dominant

   The active aorist indicative form introduces what God had determined: wisdom before the ages in 1 Corinthians 2:7, what would take place in Acts 4:28, and the conformity and subsequent calling of people in Romans 8:29 and Romans 8:30. The participial forms describe people in relation to that determination: in Ephesians 1:5 the APB renders a purpose for adoption, and in Ephesians 1:11 it renders an inheritance according to the purpose and plan of God’s will.

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across all six verses, the APB uses forms of “predestined,” applying them to wisdom, an event, people’s adoption and conformity, and those later called, justified, and glorified. Because the APB is a whole-verse translation, these renderings confirm the clauses’ overall presentation rather than isolate every lexical detail.
