   The accusative singular form occurs where an action is directed toward a person’s body: in Acts 12:7 the APB renders that Peter was struck “on the side,” and in John 19:34 it renders a soldier piercing the body with a spear. In John 20:20, John 20:25, and John 20:27, the same form identifies the bodily area shown to the disciples and approached by a hand.

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across all five verses, the APB presents the bodily location as “side,” whether it is struck, pierced, shown, or touched. The verse is read as a whole, but its clauses consistently portray this location.
