Methusos denotes a person identified within vice lists and subject to exclusion or warning.

The two occurrences use the noun for a person included among condemned or excluded kinds of conduct: one is not to associate or eat with such a professing brother, and such persons are said not to inherit the kingdom of God.

   In 1 Corinthians 5:11, the nominative singular form identifies a person who bears the name of brother yet is included in a list from whom association and eating are prohibited; the APB renders the clause "or a drunkard." In 1 Corinthians 6:10, the nominative plural form occurs in another list of persons who "will inherit the kingdom of God" negatively in the APB's wording.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB uses "a drunkard" in 1 Corinthians 5:11 and "drunkards" in 1 Corinthians 6:10. These renderings occur in whole-verse translations.
