katakleio refers to confining people in prison, as in the imprisonment of John and of many saints.

The two attested uses describe the confinement of people in prison: John in Luke 3:20 and many saints in Acts 26:10.

   Both aorist active indicative forms occur in clauses about imprisonment. In Luke 3:20 the APB renders that John was "locked John up in prison," and in Acts 26:10 it renders that many saints were "locked up ... in prisons."
