Auxesis denotes the increase of the whole body as its parts are joined and supplied.

The attested use concerns the increase of a whole body: Colossians 2:19 describes its growth from God, while Ephesians 4:16 places that increase within the body's joined and supplied parts.

1. Increase of the joined body · dominant

   Both occurrences use the accusative singular feminine form in clauses about the whole body. In Colossians 2:19 the APB renders the body as growing "with a growth that is from God"; in Ephesians 4:16 it renders the body as making itself grow through the measured working of each part.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the clause with "growth" in Colossians 2:19 and with the body "grow" in Ephesians 4:16. These expressions show the verse-level presentation rather than a fixed English equivalent.
