Anabathmos denotes the stairs or steps on which people move or stand in Acts 21.

The attested use denotes a set of steps or stairs: in Acts 21:35 they are reached amid a crowd, and in Acts 21:40 they provide the place where Paul stands to address the people.

   The plural forms identify the steps reached in Acts 21:35, where the APB renders that someone "came upon the steps" and was carried by soldiers because of the crowd. In Acts 21:40, the genitive plural occurs in the setting where the APB renders that Paul "stood on the stairs" before signaling to the people.
