Alektorophonia denotes the cockcrow time named among the possible times when a householder may return.

Its sole attested use names the cockcrow time, one of the times at which the lord of a house may come in Mark 13:35.

   In Mark 13:35, the genitive singular feminine form occurs in a list of possible times when the lord of the house comes. The APB renders that part of the list as “late or midnight or cockcrow or early.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: In Mark 13:35, the APB presents the term within a sequence of possible times as “cockcrow.” The verse is read as a whole, but the clause clearly places it in that time list.
