The term refers to the result of fishing: in Luke 5:4 it is the intended outcome of lowering nets, and in Luke 5:9 it is the catch of fish that occasions amazement.

   In Luke 5:4, the accusative singular form occurs in the instruction to put out into the deep and lower nets; the APB renders the clause with “for a catch.” In Luke 5:9, the dative singular form occurs with the catch of fish that had been taken, which the APB presents as the occasion for amazement.
