Self-control is named alongside disciplined living, perseverance, and instruction for younger men.
The Bible says self-control is named as part of disciplined and godly living, and as something to be urged among younger men. Titus 2:6; Titus 2:12. In Titus, it appears alongside hospitality, love of good, uprightness, holiness, and discipline (Titus 1:8). Another passage says to supply self-control in knowledge, then perseverance in self-control and piety in perseverance (2 Peter 1:6). The related language also includes a charge to be sober-minded, endure suffering, do evangelistic work, and fulfill ministry (2 Timothy 4:5).
