Listen to the Beloved Son

The Bible says that a voice from a cloud identifies the Son and commands those present to listen to him. The word or idea recurs in at least 3 verses across 3 books. In Matthew 17:5, the voice calls him the beloved Son, says it is well pleased with him, and says, “listen to him.” Mark 9:7 likewise calls him the beloved Son and gives the same command. In Luke 9:35, the voice calls him “my son, the chosen one” and says, “hear him.”
