Endurance is associated with receiving what was promised, Job’s perseverance, and suffering while doing good.
The Bible says endurance is needed after doing the will of God in order to receive what was promised (Hebrews 10:36). The word or idea recurs in at least 3 verses across 3 books and 3 episodes. James calls those who endured blessed, refers to Job’s perseverance, and describes the Lord as compassionate and merciful (James 5:11). First Peter distinguishes enduring while sinning and being beaten from enduring suffering while doing good, calling the latter grace from God (1 Peter 2:20).
