Three passages report that the temple curtain was torn or split.
The Bible says that the temple curtain was torn or split in the passages gathered under Jesus' death and the torn temple veil. Matthew states that the curtain was torn in two from top to bottom and adds that the earth shook and rocks were split (Matthew 27:51). Mark likewise says that the curtain was torn in two from top to bottom (Mark 15:38). Luke says that the sun had failed and that the curtain was split in the midst (Luke 23:45).
