Christology
Themes
In 1 John, antichrist is identified with denying that Jesus is the Christ.
The Bible says that “antichrist” names one who denies that Jesus is the Christ, denying the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22). Another passage says that many antichrists have come, alongside the statement that antichrist comes (1 John 2:18). In 2 John, deceivers who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in the flesh are called “the deceiver and the antichrist” (2 John 1:7). Separately, 2 Thessalonians describes one who opposes and exalts himself above every object of worship and displays himself as God in God’s temple (2 Thessalonians 2:4).
