Tarsus is a city of Cilicia in Asia Minor, named in Acts as Paul’s birthplace.
In the Bible, Tarsus is a city in Cilicia, identified as Paul’s birthplace and described by him as “no insignificant city” (Acts 21:39; Acts 22:3). The atlas description places it in Asia Minor.
Tarsus is named in at least five verses, all in Acts. The Lord tells someone to seek Saul of Tarsus on the lane called Straight (Acts 9:11). Later, brothers send him on to Tarsus from Caesarea (Acts 9:30), and another passage says that someone went there to search for Saul (Acts 11:25).
