Cyprus is a Mediterranean island named in Acts along several sailing routes and as the origin of some believers.
In the Bible, Cyprus is a Mediterranean island named in Acts along routes of travel and sailing. It appears in at least seven verses in one book. Those scattered after the pressure connected with Stephen passed through Cyprus, and some men from Cyprus came to Antioch and spoke to Hellenists about the Lord Jesus (Acts 11:19; Acts 11:20). Those sent by the Holy Spirit sailed from Seleucia to Cyprus (Acts 13:4). Barnabas later sailed there with Mark (Acts 15:39), while other voyages passed Cyprus on the way to Syria or sailed under its lee because of opposing winds (Acts 21:3; Acts 27:4).
