Shimshai the scribe

Shimshai the scribe in the Bible is the Ezra scribe named alongside Rehum in a letter written to Artaxerxes concerning Jerusalem Ezra 4:8. He is also listed with Rehum and a remnant of associates Ezra 4:9. The king’s word is addressed to Rehum, Shimshai, and their associates who dwell in Samaria and across the river Ezra 4:17. After the king’s letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai, they and their associates went hastily to Jerusalem against the Judahites and caused them to cease by force Ezra 4:23.
