Pharaoh Who Sheltered Hadad is the king of Egypt who received Hadad the Edomite and gave him a house, food, and land (1 Kings 11:18). Hadad found favor with Pharaoh, who gave him Tahpenes’s sister as a wife (1 Kings 11:19). When Hadad asked to return to his own land, Pharaoh asked what he lacked while with him; Hadad answered, “Nothing,” but repeated his request to be sent away (1 Kings 11:21; 1 Kings 11:22).
