Mattan

Mattan is the father of Shephatiah, named when Shephatiah and three other men heard words Jeremiah was speaking to all the people (Jeremiah 38:1). This Mattan—the Jeremiah person first named in that verse—is named in at least one verse, all within Jeremiah. The passage identifies him only through Shephatiah; it does not supply further description of Mattan himself.
