Hosea, also called Hoshea, is the prophet identified as Beeri's son in Hosea 1:1.
Hosea is a prophet, also written Hoshea, first named as the son of Beeri when “the word of the LORD” came to him Hosea 1:1. At the first recorded speech through him, the LORD tells Hoshea to take a wife and children described in the passage as “of fornication,” because the land had forsaken the LORD Hosea 1:2. His name occurs in at least three verses across Hosea and Romans; Romans introduces a quotation by saying that it is spoken “in Hosea” Romans 9:25.
