Geshem, called Geshem the Arabian, is named in four Nehemiah verses concerning opposition and reports about the wall.
Geshem is the Nehemiah person called “Geshem the Arabian,” named when he and others heard, mocked, and asked whether the work being done was rebellion against the king Nehemiah 2:19.
His name occurs in at least four verses, all in Nehemiah. He heard that the wall had been built and that no breach remained Nehemiah 6:1. Geshem and Sanballat sent a message proposing a meeting; the passage says they were plotting harm Nehemiah 6:2. A letter also reports that Geshem said the Jews were planning to rebel and rebuild the wall Nehemiah 6:6.
