A prophetess and judge in Judges who sat beneath her palm tree and sang with Barak.
Deborah in the Bible is a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, who was judging Israel at that time (Judges 4:4). She sat beneath the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel, and the sons of Israel came to her for judgment (Judges 4:5).
In one passage, Deborah tells Barak that the LORD has given Sisera into his hand (Judges 4:14). In another, she arises and goes with Barak to Kedesh (Judges 4:9). Deborah and Barak sing together “on that day” (Judges 5:1). Deborah is named in at least nine verses, all in Judges.
