Asaph in the Bible is the father of Joah, identified in Isaiah 36. He is first named when Joah, described as “son of Asaph the recorder,” comes out with Eliakim and Shebna Isaiah 36:3. Later, Joah comes to Hezekiah with Eliakim and Shebna; their garments are torn, and they report the Rabshakeh’s words Isaiah 36:22. Asaph’s name is recorded in at least two verses, all in Isaiah.
