Anak

Anak is a biblical genealogical ancestor identified as the father of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, first named at Numbers 13:22. The passage places his three sons at Hebron. Deuteronomy refers to “the sons of the Anakites” as a people described as great and tall and asks who can stand before the sons of Anak (Deuteronomy 9:2).

Joshua calls Kiriath-arba “father of Anak” and identifies it as Hebron (Joshua 15:13). It also says Caleb dispossessed Anak’s three sons—Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai—from there (Joshua 15:14; Judges 1:20). Anak is named in at least 5 verses across 4 books.
