Abinadab of Kiriath-jearim is the man whose house received the ark of the LORD and whose sons are named in its later transport.
Abinadab of Kiriath-jearim is the biblical person whose house received the ark of the LORD after men of Kiriath-jearim brought it there; Eleazar his son was consecrated to keep the ark 1 Samuel 7:1.
He is named in at least four verses across 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, and 1 Chronicles. Later passages say that the ark was carried from Abinadab’s house on a new cart, with his sons Uzzah and Ahio guiding or driving it 2 Samuel 6:3; 1 Chronicles 13:7. The text also identifies Eleazar, Uzzah, and Ahio as his sons 1 Samuel 7:1; 2 Samuel 6:3.
