Abimelech (Isaac narrative)

Abimelech (Isaac narrative) is the king of the Philistines at Gerar to whom Isaac went during a famine (Genesis 26:1). He saw Isaac with Rebekah, challenged Isaac’s statement that she was his sister, and warned that such conduct could have brought guilt on his people (Genesis 26:8; Genesis 26:9; Genesis 26:10). He commanded protection for Isaac and Rebekah, later told Isaac to leave because Isaac had become too powerful, and then went from Gerar with Ahuzzath and Phicol, the commander of his army (Genesis 26:11; Genesis 26:16; Genesis 26:26).
