1These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel across the Jordan in the wilderness in the Arabah opposite Suf between Paran and Tophel and Laban and Hazeroth and Dizahab.2Eleven days from the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.3And it was in the fortieth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, that Moses spoke to the sons of Israel according to all that the LORD had commanded him concerning them.4after they struck Sihon king of the Amorite who dwells in Heshbon and Og king of Bashan who dwells in Ashtaroth in Edrei.5On the other side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to expound this Torah, saying:6The LORD our God spoke to us at Horeb, saying, "Enough for you; stay in this mountain."7Turn and journey for yourselves and come to the mountain of the Amorites and to all its neighbors in the Arabah, in the mountain and in the Shephelah and in the Negeb and on the coast of the sea, land of the Canaanites and the Lebanon, as far as the river, the great river, the River Euphrates.8See, I have given the land before you. Come and possess the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.
