Deuteronomy

The Death of Moses

Chapter 34
1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the head of the summit, which is on the face of Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan. 2 and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh and all the land of Judah as far as the Sea, the last one. 3 and the Negeb and the kikkar, the valley of Jericho, city of palms, as far as Zoar. 4 And the LORD said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘To your seed I will give it.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.” 5 Moses died there, the servant of the LORD, in the land of Moab, at the mouth of the LORD. 6 And he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor, and no man knew his burial place to this day. 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died; his eye had not grown dim, and his moisture had not fled. 8 The sons of Israel wept for Moses in the Plains of Moab thirty days, and the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended. 9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him, and the sons of Israel listened to him and did just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 10 And no prophet arose again in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face. 11 to all the signs and the wonders which the LORD sent to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land. 12 and all the strong hand and all the great fear that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
