Pursue Christian Virtue and Assured Calling

2 Peter 1:1-11

1
Chapter 1
1 Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a faith equal in value to ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 Since all things pertaining to life and godliness have been granted to us by the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and virtue, 4 through which he has given us the precious and greatest promises, so that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world in lust. 5 And for this very reason, indeed, having brought in with all diligence, supply in your faith virtue, and in virtue knowledge. 6 and in the knowledge self-control, and in the self-control endurance, and in the endurance godliness, 7 but in the godliness, brotherly love; and in the brotherly love, love. 8 For if these things exist in you and abound, they will make you neither idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For the one to whom these things are not present is blind and nearsighted, having taken forgetfulness of the cleansing of his old sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, all the more be eager to make your calling and election firm; for if you do these things, you will never stumble at any time. 11 For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you.
