Solomon's Sacrifice at Gibeon and Prayer for Wisdom

2 Chronicles 1:1-17
1And Solomon the son of David strengthened himself in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and magnified him greatly. 2And Solomon said to all Israel, to the rulers of the thousands and the hundreds, and to the judges, and to every leader of all Israel, the heads of the fathers. 3Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon, because the tent of meeting of God was there, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness. 4Truly the ark of God David brought up from Kiriath-jearim when he prepared for it, for he had stretched a tent for it in Jerusalem. 5And the bronze altar which Bezalel the son of Uri son of Hur had made was set before the tabernacle of the LORD, and Solomon and the assembly sought him. 6Solomon went up there to the bronze altar that stood before the LORD at the tent of meeting and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it. 7In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask what I shall give to you." 8And Solomon said to God, "You have done with David my father great kindness and have made me king under him." 9Now, O LORD God, let your word with David my father be faithful, for you have made me king upon a people many like the dust of the land. 10Now give wisdom and knowledge to me, and let me go out before this people and let me come in, for who will judge this great people of yours? 11And God said to Solomon, "Because this was with your heart and you have not asked riches, wealth, and glory, and the soul of those who hate you, and also many days you have not asked, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king." 12The wisdom and the knowledge are given to you, and riches and wealth and glory I will give to you such that there has not been so for the kings who were before you, and after you there will not be so. 13So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting in Jerusalem, and he reigned over Israel. 14And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he stationed them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars as plentiful as sycamores in the Shephelah. 16And the source of the horses that Solomon had was from Egypt and from Kue; the king's traders procured them from Kue at a price. 17And they brought up and brought out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silver and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram; by their hand they brought them out.
